Serenade Heights asks all participants to commit to the expectations below:
Housing
- I will accept the transitional housing that the Serenade Heights staff and board of directors provide.
- I agree that only my children under the age of 16 and I will reside in my home.
- I will keep my residence clean and safe and I will follow the lease agreement as signed by myself and my landlord and notify my landlord promptly of any maintenance problems.
Relationships
- I will work toward healthy relationships with Serenade Heights Staff and other participants through honest and open communication at all times and quarterly meetings.
- I will allow mentors and Serenade Heights to be involved in my life for the purposes of support, guidance, and friendship as I develop a plan to meet my goals.
- I will attend church, Sunday school class, support group or small group to attain an ongoing faith- based support system for the future.
- I will maintain basic phone service, which is important to stay in contact with Serenade Heights Staff.
- I will work with the Serenade Heights staff to develop a personal program, identifying specific goals for myself and my children and committing myself to work toward these goals.
- I will communicate openly and honestly with Serenade Heights Staff.
Employment & Finances
- I will seek regular, permanent employment in order to become financially stable during my time in Serenade Heights.
- I will increase my earning potential by pursuing additional schooling or job training, if necessary.
- I will, with the assistance of the SH staff, determine the bills I will be responsible for and pay those on time and in full.
- I will work with the Serenade Heights staff to develop budgeting skills that will support financial stability and will keep staff updated on my financial situation. This includes being accountable for the ways I spend my money.
Holistic Living
- I will identify and work on goals in the areas of relationships with God, Self & Others.
- I will not use alcohol during the time I am in Serenade Heights. I will not have any involvement with or use of illegal drugs. I will submit to drug and alcohol testing during the application process and randomly, if deemed necessary by the Serenade Heights staff.
- I will work with and keep appointments with Serenade Heights and attend all workshops, classes and other community based resources as assigned by Serenade Heights.
- I will maintain abstinence and protect my purity during my residency in Serenade Heights.
This all leads to two main questions:
- Am I ready to have other people become actively involved with my life?
- Am I ready to make the major changes this will require in my life?
